In Person Volunteer Opportunities
Tuesday, September 16, 2:30 – 4:30/4:30 – 6:30/6:30 – 8:30 pm

Library staff needs volunteers to assist in handing out Voter Registration applications. Sign up for one or multiple sessions.

Friday, October 3, 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Help us prep for the upcoming Haunted Library by painting spooky pumpkins to decorate around the building.

Share ideas and help plan library programs.
We will discuss all upcoming programs and events happening at the library. By attending you will get a say in the future programs.
Everyone who attends will receive 1 hour of community service.

Library staff needs volunteers to assist with various activities during the event.

Teen Volunteers are requested to help keep children busy during the Children’s Department program, Connecting Through Emotional Availability (6:30 – 8:00 pm)

Please arrive by 6:00 pm to be given guidance and instructions.

2 Hours of community service will be awarded to participants.

Brighten the day of our local veterans by writing uplifting letters! One hour of community service will be given.

At Home Volunteer Opportunities

Read a new YA Book (fiction, non-fiction, graphic novel, e-book or audiobook). Submit a review to earn a certificate for 2 community service hours. You can do a maximum of 1 book review a month. Books can be found in the library catalog or on Overdrive Please fill out the review form online.

Please note: Reviews on Manga will no longer be accepted for Community Service.

All reviews are checked for plagiarism and AI assistance. If there is reason to believe that the review is not your own, you will not receive any credit.

Complete a movie review from the library’s two streaming services, Kanopy or Hoopla, and receive 2 hours of community service.

Help clean up our community while earning community service credit. Borrow a kit, complete with the necessary tools to pick up trash, using one of the provided trash bags, take a selfie with it, and email the Teen librarian for 2 hours of community service! Kits must be checked out with a Young Adult South Country Library card.

  • All Community Service opportunities are for South Country Library patrons only. All others seeking community service hours must visit their home library.
  • Volunteers will receive a community service letter for the amount of hours volunteered for each program. Lost or misplaced letters will not be replaced. It is the responsibility of the Young Adult not library staff to keep track of their own volunteer hours.
  • Any paperwork needed to be signed can be done so Monday to Thursday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the Young Adult Desk, unless prior arrangements have been made. Please call ahead to ensure someone is available.
  • All requests for additional community service projects beyond what is offered must be made at least one week in advance to the YA Librarian. Additional projects are not always available and depend on the library’s needs.
